Meet your light wallet
for the Cardano network.
Lace is a browser-based light wallet developed by Input Output Global (IOG), the engineering company behind Cardano. It brings together everyday wallet essentials—holding ADA, managing native assets, connecting to dApps, and delegating stake—in a streamlined interface.
Unlike a full-node wallet, a browser extension does not download the entire blockchain to your device. It communicates with network services to show wallet activity, while your wallet remains non-custodial: you are responsible for protecting the recovery phrase that controls access to your funds. Lace is available for supported Chromium-based browsers; check the official site for current compatibility.
New to browser wallets? A light wallet is convenient, but browser security still matters. Keep your device updated and treat your recovery phrase like the keys to a safe.

Open development
Lace is built by Input Output Global, with publicly available code and security review.
Set up Lace,
step by step.
Take your time during setup, especially when your recovery phrase appears. Nobody legitimate needs a copy of it.
- 01
Visit the official Lace site or a verified browser extension store. Check the publisher before installing.
- 02
Add Lace to a supported browser and pin the extension for easier access.
- 03
Open Lace and choose to create a new wallet. Set a strong spending password.
- 04
Write down your recovery phrase and store it offline somewhere private and secure.
- 05
Confirm the phrase in the wallet setup flow. Your wallet is ready to receive ADA and native assets.
Look for the official import or restore option in Lace. Enter an existing recovery phrase only into the genuine wallet application and never into a search result, support chat, or website link sent to you.
Staking ADA
without handing it over.
Open the staking area in Lace to explore available stake pools and review their details. When you delegate, you choose a pool and authorize the wallet to register that delegation. Your ADA stays in your wallet and remains under your control; delegation does not transfer custody to the pool operator.
Cardano distributes stake rewards according to its protocol and epoch schedule. Actual rewards are variable—not guaranteed—and depend on network conditions and pool performance. Review pool information carefully and consult official Cardano resources if you want to understand the mechanics in more depth.
On Cardano, delegated ADA remains liquid in your wallet. You can still spend it, though transaction and delegation changes may have network timing considerations.
A home for NFTs
and native tokens.
Lace includes a visual gallery for Cardano NFTs and supports native assets issued on the network. View collectibles, receive and send tokens, and review asset details from the wallet interface. You can also hide unwanted or spam assets from view where supported.
Remember that a wallet display is not an authenticity guarantee. Check collection details and asset identifiers independently before interacting with unfamiliar tokens or marketplaces.
Security starts
with your recovery phrase.
Lace is non-custodial: you control the keys, and you carry the responsibility for them. Wallet data may be encrypted locally, but a compromised device or exposed recovery phrase can put funds at risk. A few habits go a long way.
- ✓Install only from the official Lace website or a verified extension-store listing.
- ✓Consider a hardware wallet for larger holdings, and verify every transaction on the device.
- ✓Keep your browser and operating system updated; be cautious with unfamiliar dApps.
- ✓Never enter your recovery phrase into a website, message, or pop-up. Support will never ask for it.
Where available, use a hardware wallet for higher-value holdings and set a strong spending password. Separate wallets for different purposes can also help keep everyday activity apart from long-term holdings.
Lace and other
Cardano wallets.
Lace, Yoroi, Eternl, and Nami each offer different approaches to managing Cardano assets. Lace is positioned as a streamlined wallet with an approachable interface and integrated staking and NFT features. Users seeking more advanced configuration may prefer exploring Eternl, while Yoroi and Nami offer their own distinct workflows.
There is no one wallet that suits everyone. Compare current features, supported devices, and security practices from each wallet’s official documentation before choosing.
Frequently asked
questions.
01Is Lace Wallet free to use?
Lace is free to download and use. Cardano network transaction fees still apply when you send assets or delegate stake; fees are set by the network, not by this guide.
02Can I use Lace on multiple devices?
You can install the wallet on another supported browser and restore it using your recovery phrase. Each restored wallet can access the same funds, so protect the phrase and each device carefully.
03Does Lace support Bitcoin or Ethereum?
Lace is a Cardano wallet for ADA and Cardano native assets. It is not a Bitcoin or Ethereum wallet.
04How do I recover my wallet if I lose my device?
Install Lace from a verified source on a replacement device and follow its restore-wallet flow using your recovery phrase. Anyone with that phrase can control the wallet, so only enter it in the trusted wallet setup flow.
05Is Lace compatible with hardware wallets?
Lace supports compatible Ledger hardware wallets. Availability and connection methods can vary by device and software version; check current official Lace documentation before connecting.
06Can I stake ADA directly from Lace?
Lace includes delegation tools. You can review stake-pool information and delegate from the wallet. Delegated ADA remains in your wallet, but rewards and timing depend on Cardano protocol mechanics.
